In the Foreign Language department, high growth practices include the following:
- Interconnectedness of the target language and other subject areas such as World History, Biology and English.
- The use of technology on a daily basis in order to do research as well as complete assignments online through www.turnitin.com (only for Latin classes), www.flipgrid.com (only for Spanish speaking assignments) and www.quia.com.
- The use of critical thinking practices and creative writing through the Journal Entry assignments. These assignments are submitted through www.turnitin.com (Latin classes) and Google Classroom (Spanish classes).
- The use of different assessment methods. Students’ progress is assessed on a weekly basis through classwork and homework assignments, vocabulary quizzes, grammar tests and culture projects. Most of these assignments are online.
- The use of a class webpage through Google Classroom, which is updated for every class daily.
