Florence Kidder Memorial Scholarship - The National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in the State of North Carolina will award scholarships of first place - $3,000, second place - $1,000, third place - $800 and three fourth places - $400 to North Carolina high school seniors, to be used at any North Carolina college or university.  The recipients will be selected on the basis of the merit of an essay on the assigned topic, plus character and scholastic record and need. Please encourage as many of your seniors as you wish to apply.  Ideally, we would like to have two to five applicants per high school because in addition to the statewide prizes, many local Colonial Dames Committees also provide smaller scholarships to local finalists. The Pamlico Committee presents $1,000 to first place and $500 to second place.  Scholarship money is paid to the North Carolina college or university of the winners’ choice, to be administered by that institution in the name of the student.  The application is to be completed and supporting materials uploaded online no later than 11:59pm on February 5, 2024.
